This file was created in Mesquite (mesquiteproject.org) in August 2013. Prepared for Submission to Morphobank using Mesquite version 2.75, December 2013. Published as Figure 1 in the article: Origin and Early Evolution of Photosynthetic Eukaryotes in Freshwater Environments - Reinterpreting Proterozoic Paleobiology and Biogeochemical Processes in Light of Trait Evolution Carrine E. Blank J Phycol (2012) 49(6):1040-1055. doi:10.1111/jpy.12111 Character Matrix 1: Nucleotide Sequence Matrix Character Matrix 2: Categorical Data Matrix Habitat (Salinity) - multistate ordered characters Tree Window: Phylogenetic tree topology was reconstructed using a large multi-gene concatenated dataset. Branchlengths were inferred using maximum likelihood, then scaled to age using penalized likelihood (using r8s). The scale bar shows the median node age in millions of years before present.
